PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project will replace the pavement on I-490 between the I-90/I-490/I-71 interchange and just west of E. 55th Street in the city of Cleveland. The project will provide a full depth reconstruction of I-490 for 2.3 miles, including drainage, lighting, and signage improvements. The project also includes the reconstruction of the interchange ramps at I-71, I-77, W. 7th Street, and Broadway Avenue. Minor work to the bridge over the Cuyahoga River will be performed that will include work to the bridge deck, approach slabs, drainage system, expansion joints, and painting of certain structural steel elements. Minor utility work is also anticipated. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction on I-490 throughout construction. The closing of various ramps is expected.
