PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This $90M project involved the reconfiguration of the I-76/I-77 Main/Broadway interchange ramps, relocating and/or modifying sections of South Main Street, South Broadway Street, East South Street, West South Street, Yale Street, Buchtel Avenue, Coburn Street, Russel Avenue, East Voris Street, West Voris Street and Sweitzer Avenue and the permanent closure of the I-76/I-77 Grant Street/Wolf Ledges Parkway interchange ramps. Three (3) new bridges were constructed and eight (8) bridges were completely replaced including the foundations. A total of 112,000 tons of asphalt pavement was placed and 50,000 lineal feet of sanitary sewer/storm sewer/waterline were installed. One of the main goals of the Main/Broadway Interchange project was to improve safety and reduce congestion along I-76/I-77 by eliminating the Grant Street and Wolf Ledges interchanges.
