SERVICES PERFORMED:
- Structures Inspection for the following: demolition and removal of the existing bridge deck;
- Project Inspection for the following: full-depth asphalt pavement replacement at east and west bridge approaches; sidewalk replacement; guardrail replacement; pavement striping
- Coatings Inspection for painting reused structural steel and sealing of new concrete parapet walls, abutments, wingwalls and sides/edges of deck
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project which consisted of the rehabilitation of a single-span steel beam bridge included demolition and replacement of the deck, abutment walls and portions of the existing wingwalls. In addition, the following items were constructed or replaced: approach slabs; roadway approaches; guardrails; sanitary sewer hangers; and decorative parapet walls. QCS provided inspection for the following during demolition and rehabilitation: maintenance of traffic; detour and road closure; erosion control; coffer dam placement/water control; abutment excavation; deck removal and replacement; beam preparation and shear stud quality testing; replacement of roller supports for existing sanitary force main suspended on structure; epoxy coated reinforcing steel placement for deck; approach slabs and parapet walls; form/false work construction and removal; concrete placement, finishing and curing; bearing replacement; drain pipe and underdrain installation; filter fabric and porous backfill; LSM backfill; subgrade and base material installation, compaction and preparation; installation of bridge railing and guardrails; deck grooving; asphalt paving; pavement striping; slope grading, seeding and mulching; sealing of concrete parapet walls, outside edges of the deck, abutments and wingwalls; and painting of the existing structural steel beams and cross frames.
