PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This $161M project is the largest project to date in ODOT District 4 and consists of the construction of three (3) new bridges, the reconstruction of three (3) bridges, the widening of two (2) two bridges, and the demolition and permanent removal of the Lafollette Street bridge over I-77 just south of the Central Interchange. Two of the new bridges include flyover ramps at the Central Interchange which measure 650 and 850 feet in length. In addition to the bridge work, about 45 lane-miles of highway and ramps were repaved. Included in the repaving was full-depth flexible pavement replacement with cement stabilized subgrade performed along EB and WB I-76 from M.P. 8.24 to 9.96 and from M.P. 11.01 to 12.03; and along NB and SB I-77 from M.P. 9.74 to 12.11 and from M.P. 15.18 to 15.87. This project also included the “South Leg” and “West Leg” which included minor work to several structures. Resurfacing of SR 8 was performed from M.P. 0.00 to 1.75. This project is scheduled for completion in late summer of 2025.
